Long Live the Pope

We will be singing “Long Live the Pope” on Thursday in honor of Pope Benedict XVI’s nearly 8 years serving the church and the world as the Supreme Pontiff. After consultation with our organ teacher, and the guy who will be playing the organ while I cantor, we decided to transfer the words to a tune that everyone knows. “Long Live the Pope is in 87.87D metric, so we looked at tunes that used the same pattern. The hymns: “Led by the Spirit, & I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” go to the old english melody of: Kingsfold. Because it is in the same 87.87D index it transferred and matched the tune easily. So I spent my evening tonight creating a whole new piece of sheet music and inserting the lyrics to go with it. You can download it for free here. I encourage you to sing it in on the 28th in honor of our Holy Father. May God bless him for all that he has done for our church. VIVA IL PAPA BENEDETTO!!! LONG LIVE THE POPE!!
